Portland, Maine creators

Ink is the first thing that marks out the creators of Portland, Maine, the state's most populous city. Tattooed heads the labels they choose for their own listings, and videos comes close behind it.

Hair is where the group splits. Blonde and brunette each sit on many listings, so no single shade claims the page, while solo and asian appear on a smaller set of profiles. Taken together, those labels describe a local crowd that leans towards tattooed creators making video, with room for other styles beside them.

Pokémon trophies and a sarcastic artist in Maine's biggest city

An evening lost to a console would suit either of the two busiest Portland names. One is a Pokémon collector who keeps an old arcade kiosk at home in better order than most museums keep theirs. She cosplays with her dog and will not pay a scalper on principle. The other is a working artist with a sharp, sarcastic tongue, a cheeky show-off streak and a long history with Fortnite.

Portland is the most populous city in Maine and the county seat of Cumberland County. Even so, its favourites feel less like a big-city roster and more like two friends arguing over which save file to load.

The creators behind Portland's busiest names

#1Maple Leigh: Kiosk keeper who will not pay a scalper

The Snap and Stadium Pokémon kiosk in Maple Leigh's home is complete, down to the original key, the controller bracket and the factory hot glue. Most of what matters is in that. She plays everything from the Atari years through Nintendo, PlayStation and Xbox, and she chases trophies with a completionist's stubbornness. She has cosplayed Ash Ketchum with her Pomeranian as the Pokémon. She turned a trip for Hobbit-themed Magic cards into a there-and-back-again adventure, and she once queued at a midnight Zelda launch more excited about a giant pot than the game. This year she finally made it to a rock radio barbecue festival and loved the bands. Her OnlyFans page is playful, flirty and cheerfully nerdy, the work of a sweetheart who would rather trade Pokémon than play it cool.

#2Moose Jerky: Deadpan artist with a Fortnite habit

Art is the full-time job, and the page is the cheeky sideline of a self-confessed show-off. The humour is dry to the bone, and downtime belongs to a controller, with Fortnite an old favourite. Moose Jerky offers video with a sardonic wink rather than a gush, which makes a sly, refreshing change of tone.

Ink and blonde lead, yet no label tips the balance

Interestingly, the popular end of Portland exactly mirrors the whole list. Tattooed tops the labels at 55%. Close behind, blonde and videos each reach 45%, and no label in the favourites outdoes its citywide frequency. Our read is that in a list this small, nobody wins on a checklist. People pick a character, which is how a trophy hunter with a Pomeranian and a deadpan artist with a controller end up as the names worth knowing.
